Guangdong piano brand dominating the world market

   As a pioneer in China's reform and opening up, Guangdong has been acting as a key province to attract foreign investment and conduct foreign trade. Ever since China launched the Belt and Road Initiative, Guangdong has been encouraging companies to implement the going global strategy and to seek more opportunities.

   Among Guangdong enterprises that are exploring more updated ways of cooperating with foreign partners in overseas markets, 24 have been invited to a forum to share with audiences their inside stories in going global as well as the achievements they have made. 

   The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global will commence this Wednesday in the southwestern area of Guangdong’s Zhuhai city.

   Guangdong News Now interviewed 5 of the exhibitors at the forum. From yesterday (Nov. 27) through to Wednesday, we will share with you their thoughts and reflections as active participants of the global economy rather than as simply original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), a label given by developed economies a decade ago.

   After decades of implementing the going global strategy, the-60-year-old Guangzhou Pearl River Piano Group Co., Ltd., is now considered the world’s largest piano manufacturer selling products to more than 100 countries and areas. According to the financial report of the company, Pearl River Pianos occupy more than one quarter of the global market with a double-digit rise in export sales volumes over 2 consecutive years.

   As of now, Pearl River Piano owns 3 self-developed production lines as well as Schimmel Piano and Ritmuller Pianos, 2 high-end piano brands merged from European firms. In recent years the company has been integrating its retail channels and improving its technique in musical instrument design and manufacturing.

   To further promote brand image, Pearl River Piano organizes various cultural events and piano competitions for learners of all ages and participates in international fairs and expos as well, says Yang Weihua, Board Secretary of the group,

   "For example, we organize cultural events in Poland, a country with a long history of piano playing, to introduce our pianos and famous Chinese musical works.  After China's launching of the Belt and Road initiative, we’ve noticed a changing attitude towards "Made in China" products from overseas markets. More and more of our foreign counterparts and clients value the high quality and the innovation and creativeness of China’s manufacturing sector."
